Monthly Training Tip: Proper Nutrition
Just like training, it takes time and dedication to get the full benefits of eating healthy and stay on the right track. (You can't scarf down a box of donuts for breakfast and then step into the ring to spar, sorry! )Ultimately what you want to develop is a long, healthy, smart eating style that works for you and pleases your taste buds without sacrificing nutrition. Everyone is different so you have to experiment with certain foods to see how your body reacts to them and then take it from there. Here are some helpful guidelines to get you started on the right track...
Tip#1 - Plan Ahead
Raiding the refridgerator when you're ravenous after a long class of sparring adn conditioning is NOT a time when you're going ot be thinking about what's BEST for your body. At this point you're only trying to get whatever is easiest and quickest it can get there. By planning ahead, you have healthy snacks and meals ready to eat when you you are, and avoid that last-second dive for the bag of oreos, or the drive-thru fast-food cheeseburger on the way home.
Tip #2 - Moderate
"Everything in Moderation" is the key here. That "all or nothing" mentality will only trip you up n the long run. If you think you have to eat healthy all the time or not at all, you're going ot give up the first time you fall face first into a bucket of ice cream, and who benefits from that? Try to even out your daily sweets intake with your meals by planning healthy meals and snack ahead of time, and add in a few treats during the tiimes in between when you're not overly hungry. this will help you keep from overreating as well.
I'll be back with more health tips for you again soon, until then, take care of yourself ok?
